What is a Plumber?

A plumber is a master craftsman who installs and repairs varieties of piping systems that carry water, waste water, natural and medical gas and waste in buildings. They join pipes and install fixtures like bathtubs, toilets, lavatories, dishwashers, water heaters, roof drains and floor sinks. Often they design these systems from code requirements and from blueprints and drawings. They have the very important job of protecting the health of the state and nation through clean, safe drinking and bathing water and the removal of waste products from homes and businesses.

What is a Steamfitter?

A steamfitter is a master craftsman who installs many varieties of piping systems. They layout, fabricate and assemble pipes from drawings, blueprints and specifications. They install both high and low pressure pipe systems that are used in manufacturing; in the generation of electricity; heating and cooling buildings; and high purity piping systems.

What is a Pipefitter-Refrigeration Mechanic?

A Pipefitter-Refrigeration Mechanic is a master craftsman who installs and services sophisticated equipment, state-of-the-art controls and complete environmental control systems in schools, hospitals, hotels, airports, malls, high-rise offices and apartment buildings. They also service and repair package units and large tonnage refrigeration equipment.

How do I qualify?

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must have a high school diploma or GED

Must have a valid Arizona driver's license

What are the program specifics?

Length of program - 5 years

On-the-job training

Related classroom instruction with college credit

Excellent wages and benefits

What do I need to apply?

Copy of high school diploma or GED

Birth certificate

Must take a reading and math test

Must take a drug test

Where do I apply

Applications are accepted every Thursday between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The reading and math test starts promptly at 3:00 p.m. A drug test is taken immediately following.
