What is an Electrical Inside Wireman?  

Electrical construction is a very dynamic and diverse industry with specialized skills. A journeyman Inside Wireman must be able to layout, assemble, install, test and repair entire electrical and electronic systems. Along with their electrical construction abilities, Inside Wiremen must be knowledgeable in blueprint reading, the national electrical code, local codes, and OSHA safety and health requirements for safe work practices.

Electricians work in all types of conditions: dirty, dusty, hot, wet, cold, confined spaces, in ditches, or other uncomfortable places. Whether the work is outdoors in inclement weather or in a temperature controlled building, the inside wireman takes pride in the work he or she has performed.

How do I qualify?

  Must be a least 18 years old

  Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent

  Must have one year of high school algebra or one semester of college algebra with a grade of "C" or better

  Must have suitable transportation

What are the program specifics?

  Length of program - 4 years

  8000 hours of on-the-job training

  900 hours of related classroom instruction with college credit

  Starting pay at 55% of journeyman rate with pay increases

approximately every 9 months

What do I need to apply?

  Copy of high school diploma or GED and GED score sheet

  Transcript of high school grades

  Birth certificate, Drivers license or other document showing proof of age

  Social Security card

Where do I apply?

Apply in person on Thursdays 7:30a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
