What is a Drywall Taper & Finisher?

Drywall tapers and finishers are skilled workers in the building and construction trades. They apply tape over drywall seams and apply additional coats of drywall compound to provide smooth or textured surfaces. Most of the work is on new residential and commercial buildings. The craft requires standing, reaching, upper body strength and occasionally working on scaffold.

How do I qualify?
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must have an Arizona driver's license

  • Must have own transportation

What are the program specifics?
  • 2 Year on-the-job training program

  • Related classroom instruction

  • Starting wage 50% of journeyman rate

  • Pay increases every 1,000 hours on the job

  • Medical and pensions benefits

What do I need to apply?
  • Proof of age

  • Driver's license
